The river shores are lined with mangrove and dense tropical forest having an equatorial climate with heavy rainfall year round. The region has a native cacao varietal located far upstream which is harvested in the wild. Tasting notes: Having deep chocolate flavors and mild bitterness, there is no other varietal better suited for an 85% cacao bar. This chocolate is
